Here at YUSU (York University Students Union), we have an exciting job opportunity for someone to join our Marketing team as the Senior Graphic Designer.

About the Role:

We are on the precipice of an organisational rebrand, following months of work reviewing our communications, workshopping stakeholders, and carrying out competitor benchmarking. This new role of Senior Graphic Designer will be pivotal in not only offering expert advice, but also in co-leading this project with the Communications Manager. You’ll bring your creativity, past experience and knowledge of current graphic design trends to ensure YUSU’s visual identity speaks to its members - York students.

This role will be responsible for the YUSU brand and sub-brands (which include 6 commercial outlets), ensuring all output is of high quality and effective in communicating our values, purpose and mission to our members. You won’t be afraid to continuously review and evolve these brands - using research, consultation and social listening to keep our visual identity working with the ever-changing demands of our audience and advances in technology.

You won’t be doing all of this alone. You’ll be joining a small but powerful team of creatives who are just as dedicated in delivering holistic, dynamic and relevant content and campaigns to students. You’ll also be directly responsible for a team of talented designers.

In a nutshell, we’re after someone who’s organised, passionate, oozes creativity and thrives in a busy team that does rewarding work. In return, we promise to find working practices that work best for you, develop you professionally, give you the creative freedom to explore personal design interests that better the Union’s work, and support you every step of the way.

Working at YUSU:

  • A full time working week is 35 hours
  • You receive 38 days holiday (including bank holidays and 4 paid closed Christmas days)
  • You get extensive access to discounts and benefits
  • There are paid volunteering opportunities
  • You have access to the cycle to work schemes and other salary sacrifice options
  • We offer a generous pension scheme
  • You have the chance to shape the student experience for the better

YUSU is committed to equality of opportunity - we are an organisation who works very hard to ensure we appoint based on merit. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with disabilities and/or from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we are proud to offer an interview to applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised position.
